On May 30, 2010, the organizing clubs of the OHSS cancelled The Dragon Spray race in Kamloops.
The OHSS race was cancelled due to environmental and safety issues caused by non-stop rain the week prior to the race. It was in the best interest in the safety of the racers not to run the “A” course as 2’ of water was covering much of the course, hiding potentially dangerous roots and the B course became too difficult, with exposed roots and slippery hills, for the racing calibre of many of our B riders. Neither courses, A or B, could have with stood the effects of 200+ motorcycles making numerous laps; the environmental issues would have been substantial; therefore, we did what we felt was the responsible thing to do and we cancelled the race late Saturday night. We apologize to those folks that showed up Sunday morning but in all, only 15 trucks pulled in unaware of the cancellation, so our network of racers acted quickly and efficiently to get the word out that the race was cancelled – thank you!
We would like to thank Dennis for doing everything possible to save the race from being cancelled..., he was out late Saturday night making easy outs on hills and did everything he could to keep the race going but unfortunately, Mother Nature won in the end.
The GKMA is rescheduling this race - please check back to this website for updates.

- New Okanagan Hare Scramble Series (OHSS) Rules and Regulations are now posted here. As an OHSS racer, it is your responsibility to be familiar with the Rules.
- It was decided at our meeting in November that the course for the B Loop (morning race) would be easier at ALL OHSS races to accommodate new racers, especially the Jr. Under, Ladies and 85 cc classes.
We hope that toning down the B Loop along with the creation of the “Vet Open” class will bring out new riders trying the OHSS series for the first time
The Okanagan Hare Scrambles Series (OHSS) is an interior race series put on by the local off road motorcycle clubs, which include:
- South Okanagan Dirt Bike Club
- Greater Kamloops Motorcycle Association
- Off Road Vernon Motorcyle Club
- Mt. Ida Riders (Salmon Arm)
The primary goal of the OHSS (Okanagan Hare Scramble Series) is to promote family riding and racing while preserving and maintaining the areas that we ride in. Education of our racers is first and foremost in keeping our riding areas open and all of our clubs work closely with various levels of government for sustainable, well maintained trails.
The OHSS (Okanagan Hare Scramble series) is structured so that we have a morning race, lunch time Pee Wee race and then our afternoon race which consists of the Pro’s, Experts, Intermediates, Vet Expert’s, Sr. Experts, Vet Open and our Super Vets. The OHSS morning race is for the following classes: Vet Am, Sr. Am, Ladies, Jr. Over / Jr. Under and 85 cc (small wheel). Our 50 cc and 65 cc classes provide exciting race entertainment at lunch time. The OHSS format is set up so that there is a class for every member of the family and every skill level as our morning race is held on the “B” course and our afternoon race on the “A” course. Pee Wee’s have a designated course that is great for spectators. |
